Messen anti-harassment policy.
Attending or participating in Messen events or activities means you agree to and will comport with this policy.
Messen is dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where attendees can come together to enjoy their shared passion for board games and foster meaningful social connections. To ensure the comfort and safety of all participants, we have established the following anti-harassment policy:
1. Code of conduct: All attendees are expected to adhere to the principles of common courtesy and respect for one another's personal boundaries, property, and feelings. The convention aims to be a space where attendees can forge friendships and engage in positive interactions.
2. Harassment zero-tolerance: Messen has a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and offensive behavior. Harassment, in any form, will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to verbal abuse, unwanted advances, derogatory comments, and any behavior that makes others feel unsafe, unwelcome, or uncomfortable.
3. Identifying harassment: Encompasses any behavior that disrupts, disturbs, intimidates, or creates an unwelcome environment. Even unintentional behavior becomes harassment if it persists despite being pointed out or after requests to stop. We understand that even unintentional behaviors can have a negative impact. For examples see below.
4. Addressing and assistance: If you experience or witness such behavior, we urge you to take an active role in addressing it if it is safe and you are comfortable doing so. Initiate a respectful conversation with the person involved, expressing your feelings and concerns. Often, this direct approach can lead to a better understanding and immediate resolution.
If you are not comfortable discussing the matter with the individual in question, it is not safe, or if the behavior persists even after your conversation, we recommend reaching out to the nearest staff member promptly. Our staff is prepared to assist you and ensure a swift and appropriate resolution that aligns with our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment at Messen.
5. Consequences of non-compliance: In cases where an attendee fails to comply with this policy, Messen reserves the right to take appropriate action. This may include revoking the badge of the individual in question, without offering a refund.
Messen is committed to cultivating a community where attendees can come together to share their love of board games and establish lasting connections. By adhering to this anti-harassment policy, we can collectively create an environment that is safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone.
